IA have been running ski and snowboard instructor courses in resorts throughout Canada, France, Switzerland, Austria and New Zealand for the last 12 years, in partnership with local ski and snowboard schools.

South African Ski Resort Sold for R5.5 Million

17th July 2012

Good news if you've always wanted to work a ski season in South Africa, the Tiffendell ski resort has been saved.

The South African resort was sold at auction last week for R5.5m (approx £428,175). At first glance this might seem like a small amount for the country's only ski resort, but apparently a lot of reburbishment work is required before it can reopen. The resort's new owner, Lew Campbell, hopes to have the resort open on a small scale by next winter, and fully open in 2014.

It will probably be a few years before they start recruiting overseas resort workers, but it's good news for the local community that this resort is set to reopen.

Tiffendell Up For Auction

10th July 2012

South Africa's only commercial ski resort goes under the hammer at an auction being held on Thursday.

Whilst neighbouring nation Lestho's resort, Afri-Ski, has enjoyed great success, Tiffendell has suffered financial difficulties, resulting in the owner, Tiffski Properties going bankrupt.

Although it is not known if any of the bidders are planning on re-opening the resort, it is hoped that they do, as the closure has had a negative impact on local businesses, and jobs in the area.

Ski Resorts Hit By Earthquake

4th July 2012

Skiers and snowboarders in New Zealand yesterday were effected by an eathquake that occured 40 miles south west of North Island.

The quake had a magnitude of 7.0, but here haven't been any reports of major damage or injuries. This hasn't come at a good time as the country's ski season has only just started.

If you're heading over to New Zealand either to work, or just enjoy the white stuff, and want more information on what to do in the event of an earthquake, check out the New Zealand Government's safety advice.
